Some things coming up…

Hey there, my name is Bryan. yes, it’s Bryan with a “y”. I make music. I record music. More specifically, I play guitar and other various things with strings. I play a few things that don’t have strings, and sing a little, But mainly I play guitar. I’ve got a studio I call the “Elsewhere Room”. Which is basically just a room in my basement that resembles a music store where nothing is for sale. I record lots of guitars, bass and other odds and ends for a wide range of artists, sometimes here and sometimes there. Occasionally I take on full production and/or mixing projects when the planets align. Admittedly, between gigs and studio stuff I keep my plate a bit too full. Thankfully, I work with some very patient people. I also spend a fair amount of time touring & traveling where I’ve been fortunate enough to see a decent portion of the inhabitable portion of this planet and many amazing and iconic venues along the way. Thank you guitar, I am forever in your debt.

There are several bands in which I am a member:

Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Starbelly, Jarflys / Mend The Hollow, Meg & Bryan, Technicolor Motorhome (tribute to Steely Dan), Second Hand News (tribute to Fleetwood Mac). in the mid to late 90’s I had a few others including: Non-Fiction (which later became Majesty Twelve), Ellec, plus a bunch of super fun bar bands. When not in the studio or away, I often play various solo, duo, trio & other assorted band gigs, mostly in Maryland and the surrounding area.

The other side of my musical world is being a side man or hired gun and I have been incredibly blessed to play with so many people that I absolutely admire & adore. at last estimate, somewhere around 250 bands / artists over the course of my career. A handful of the artists with which I have regularly played live and/or on recordings include:

Take 6, Rachael Yamagata, Judd & Maggie, Pat Dinizio (the Smithereens), The Temptations (Damon Harris), Warren Zanes (Del Fuegos), Clint Holmes, Tom Scott, Nnenna Freelon, Dan Haas Band / Ben's Bones, Shane Gamble, Olivia Connolly, Higher Hands, Harrison Country, Dana B, Doug Segree, Eric Scott, Erik Vincent Huey, Greg Phillips Trio, Jim Ebert , Brandon Hardesty / Bumpin Uglies, Dennis Schocket, Dean Rosenthal, David Glaser, Paul Reed Smith, Aidan Ewald, Julian Ewald and a bunch more...

Less frequently than those above, I’ve also worked with:

Bobby Vega (Sly Stone, Tower of Power, Santana), The former ladies of the Supremes, David Cassidy, David Pack (Ambrosia), Thelma Houston, Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson’s band), Mark Kibble, Stephen Bishop, Yvonne Elliman, Rita Coolidge, Bibi Bourelly, Orianthi, Pressing Strings, Skribe, Mr. VCR, Daphne Eckman, Mike Viola, Reverend Smackmaster Congregation of Funk, Jason Butcher & Better Days, Jim Brickman, Ricky Wise, Tex Moonlight, Victor Brooks, Ricky Wise, Mark Hopkins and the Pretty War, Native Run, Mary Prankster, The Walking Sticks (SHAED), Sweet Leda, @ Computer, Juliet Lloyd, Caitlyn Maher, ELSKA, Tommy Gann, The Wellspring, Kelly Bell Band, Anthony Setola, Dave Tieff, Owen Sartori, Mama Jama, Shugar, Promise Lab, Rayon Baugh, Pompeii Graffiti, J. Coursey Willis, Orlando Phillips, August West, Michael McHenry, Van Meter, Dirty Names, Maryann Redmond, Shawn Shakya, The Winn Brothers, Hot Tub Limo, No Pets For Noah, Perks, Guitars From Mars, Jon Gillespie, Van Dyke & Glaser...to name a few.

And since I’m already in the midst of shamelessly name dropping and horn tooting, I suppose I should mention that I’ve been an artist with PRS Guitars since 2005. in addition to my artist relationship, since 2012, they’ve been bringing me in to record the majority of their product Demo videos and regularly send me all over the place for clinics and/or live demonstrations. I’ve also composed and performed hundreds of musical pieces for their online content, ads and documentaries. It is, of course, a tremendous honor. And they are like family to me at this point. I should clarify that I never intended or set out to become a “demo” person, it just kind of happened with them completely organically. And I do it solely because I believe in and respect their craft & vision. I’m continually inspired by what they are creating. If I stop doing demos for them, I can’t imagine I’ll be doing them at all. I don’t have a signature guitar or even one particular model that I play exclusively, but there is a dessert named after me at one of my favorite restaurants. And I broke my left arm THREE times in one school year. So there’s that. (It was 3rd grade if you were curious).

Lastly, I get some inquires about lessons. Although I used to teach quite a bit, and I really do enjoy it, I’ve only had time to squeeze an occasional one in here and there for the last 10 or so years. If you’ve reached out and haven’t heard back, I sincerely apologize. It’s not you, it’s me.

In closing, my two favorite musicians in the world are Aidan Ewald & Julian Ewald. Check them out.
